If you like it hot, hot, hot, then you will especially enjoy the weather in Turks and Caicos during the period from May to November.
With 230 miles of white sandy beaches, coral reefs which plunge into the crystal blue waters and 350 days of sunshine a year, Turks and Caicos is an island haven which will have you coming back year after year.
If you are not an admirer of the rain and love the sun, this is the place for you! Starting the day with a sunrise at 0620h you can expect temperature ranges to be between 85 to 94°F (29-32 °C) throughout the day and not much below 80°F (25 °C) at night.
For those of you who do not like humidity, May is a better time to go than June. I was there in May and the humidity was not bad at all. When I went back in mid-June, it was pretty high. But thanks to being in a mansion on a cliff, there were always great winds to wick away the sweat!
The water temperatures from May through to November are ideal for all the water activities you can take part in. The temperature of the water is anywhere from 80-86°F (25-30°C), and feels great to a warmth starved body from Canada!
The weather in Turks and Caicos and its climate are often said to be desert tropical, probably because of the aloe and cacti that dot the landscape. I've been to Black Rock City in Reno for the Burning Man event more than once and TCI does not feel anything like desert weather! I never sweated once when I was in Reno, but did when I was in Providenciales during June.
Rain is almost non-existant in the Islands as they experience a mere 40 inches of rainfall every year, so that means most of the time it's sun, sun, sun!
Although rain showers are usually very short and not too heavy, while I was there in May I experienced 3 exceptionally heavy rainfalls. The local population was pretty happy about it as they hadn't seen any wet weather in awhile.
From June through October is when hurricanes will most likely hit. They can be pretty harsh. However, statistically speaking they do not make it to land here as frequently as they do on other Caribbean islands.
As a matter of fact, no hurricane had made it to land for 20 years until Hurricane Ike hit in 2008. Over a long period of time the chances of a hurricane hitting has been once every nine years.
If you are travelling to the T&C Islands between May and November, you won't need anything but the skimpiest clothes and a bathing suit. If you are going to travel to the Islands in January or February though I would bring a light sweater or jacket as the evenings tend to cool down quite a bit.
A tropical marine climate with low humidity, the warm temperatures of Turks and Caicos are moderated by the cooling breezes of the easterly trade winds. With such amazing weather in Turks and Caicos it is easy to see why these Islands are a premier destination for diving, snorkelling and just relaxing on any of the incredible beaches.
