Caribbean Hurricane Season - Should You Travel?

If you ever have or currently are considering a Caribbean vacation then something you need to be very aware of is the Caribbean hurricane season.

You wouldn't want to be stuck in the middle of some of these storms when you're trying to enjoy your time off with your special someone or family, now that could just ruin a vacation.

Don't worry yourself too much though because these storms are pretty predictable, which is why they've got their own dedicated season.

Typically Caribbean hurricane season is from the beginning of June to the end of November. Luckily, Turks and Caicos is hit less often than the more southern Caribbean islands. TCI was hit in 2008 by Hurricane Ike and that was the first hurricane to touch the Islands in 20 years!

The season will usually come on relatively strong in June and start dying off around the beginning of October.

Now it's not always 100% that all these storms will be so strong they will destroy anything but they will definitely be strong enough to ruin a perfectly good vacation.

Just the sound of hurricane season strikes fear in the heart of trip takers everywhere, but the truth is there are still times in the season when you can travel, but you will need to do some research.

For the most part you are not going to want to plan a vacation in the middle of hurricane season, although you can plan your trip around what are called "low risk months."

These are the months within the season that you are least likely to encounter a bad storm.

There is a pretty big upside to trying to plan your trip within hurricane season, searching for low risk months, you will undoubtedly find deals galore.

Since so many people are afraid to even look for a trip during this season you can save some pretty serious money. Now that's one thing that could make a great vacation even better, saving money makes everything better!

I would definitely take a trip to the Turks and Caicos Islands during June, July and the first half of August...but would probably bypass the last half of August and September.

You can live in the lap of luxury during these months for a pretty cheap price!

On top of finding these low risk months you can still plan a vacation during Caribbean hurricane season by looking into a cruise.

Cruises offer you a great place to have a vacation while continuously traveling, so you are always staying ahead of the storms so to speak. Now most cruise ships are essentially a moving island with all the accommodations a luxury resort would have. Take one that stops off at Grand Turk Island and you'll get to experience a little piece of heaven!

Plus a cruise is a great way to see more than one area throughout your trip, since it only stops in a few locations you are constantly seeing coast lines and different wildlife.

So if you're trying to plan a great vacation and save a little bit of money doing so, look into traveling during Caribbean hurricane season, although you will want to do some research to make sure you are traveling in the low risk months.

Catch a deal and enjoy yourself with a cruise if you'd like to, all again during the hurricane season, so don't count anything out except the high risk months of the season. Enjoy your trip!
