Amanyara translated breaks down to "aman" meaning peace from the Sanskrit and "yara" meaning place from the language of the indigenous Arawak Indians of the region. So altogether "peaceful place". How cool is that?!?
Amanyara is definitely an appropriate name for this refuge from the daily grind which is located in Turks and Caicos on the Northwest tip of the Island of Providenciales. It is a 5,000 acre reserve for nature and wildlife and the Northwest Point Marine Park is just offshore where there are world-renowned reefs.

The reflections that the pond throws off are just incredible. I love the stark backdrop of Amanyara. The contrast between the beauty of the water and the roughness of the terrain is amazing.
I haven't had the chance to visit this beautiful resort as of yet but John has been there a few times and he's more awed by it each time he goes. I'll do my best to describe it as it was related to me and you can see some of it through the pictures Max and Lea took on their visit!
To get to the Amanyara Resort you'll be traveling along a narrow road until you reach the reception pavillion.
Once you enter you'll see an almost magical reflecting pond that is surrounded by incredible landscaping. On one side of the pond you have the Boutique and Library and opposite that is the terrace and the dining room where you can enjoy gorgeous views of the water.
There are 40 guest pavillions plus 33 - 3, 4 or 5 bedroom villas to choose from for your stay at this luxury hideaway. There are 3 categories for the guest pavillions depending on what views they afford and where they're located. You can stay at either a Beach, Ocean or Pond Pavillion.

Once inside your pavillion you'll be greeted by elegance and efficiency. The interiors of the pavillions contain everything you need to really relax and enjoy your stay including a king sized bed, a TV and DVD player with a surround sound system, a comfortable chair with a footstool where you can put your feet up and read your favorite book, a writing desk and most important of all a bar ;o) And that's just the bedroom and living room!
You'll also enjoy a luxurious fully functioning kitchen as well as two terraces that can be gotten to from the bedroom and living room.
Eating at Amanyara is yummy! You'll be able to select from local seafood as well as Mediterranean and Asian dishes.
Not far from The Dining Room, you'll be able to get your lounge on in an incredibly comfortable (according to John), oversized daybed in The Lounge where you'll be able to partake of any number of tropical drink concotions served to you from the bar area.

During the day you may want to try out the Beach Club for less formal dining fare or how about a beach bbq at night!
The incredible infinity-edge swimming pool has uninterrupted views of the beach and ocean. An outdoor shower along with sun loungers are provided along the pools timber deck.
If you're used to working out on a daily basis there's no need to interrupt your regimen as the resort has a fully equipped fitness center as well as tennis courts.
Besides that there are the usual Caribbean vacation acitivites that you can take part in including snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, kite-boarding, golfing (a 30 minute drive) etc.
Or if all you really want to do is rest and relax you can schedule some spa treatments with one of the resort's therapists!
Amanyara Turks and Caicos is where Prince stayed on his visit to Providenciales. I wouldn't mind the chance of running into him or many of the other celebrities that call this resort home when they visit!
